I am using the paid version of Dropbox. My renewal month is coming up, so I tried to renew.
The fee is 1200 yen/month.... Huh? Did I do this much?
I have 1TB, but I haven't used even half of it... If it were a few hundred yen per TB, I could easily buy it, but if it exceeds 1,000 yen, I would think twice.
There are many other cloud storage services out there, and I looked into them to see if they are cheaper.
Main Cloud Storage Services
iCloud
I'm kind of signed up for the iPhone backup, but I'd rather not share it on my PC, so I dismiss it.
Box
- 100GB 1,200yen/month
high
Google Drive
- 200GB $3/month
Not enough capacity.
- 2TB $10/month
Too much capacity. 1TB is fine, I just want it to be $500.
OneDrive
Too many plans... It's complicated... Here is a list of plans.
OneDrive only
targeted at individuals
- 50GB 270 yen/month
Not enough capacity.
For Business
- 1TB 584 yen/month (annual contract only)
just right (time, size, length, etc.)
OneDrive (bundled with Office365)
targeted at individuals
Office365 Solo
- 1TB 1,274yen/month
For Business
Office365 Business
- 1TB 1,167yen/month
Office365 Business Essentials
- 1TB 702円/月
Since it's around $1,000 for 1TB with Office, OneDrive is starting to look like a good value. (Or rather, OneDrive is now part of Office365)
Let's compare the contents of Office365 in a little more detail.
Office365 Plan Differences
- Solo and Business come with the app version of Office365
- Business and Business Essentials come with a web version of Office365
- Sole and Business Essentials come with email
- Sole comes with free Skype phone calls!
Hmmm...
- I'm not convinced that the personalized service is more expensive than the business one....
- I don't need a Skype phone...
- I use Gmail, so I don't need email...
- I'm swayed by the fact that it comes with an app version of Office, but on second thought, I have a packaged version of Office, so I don't need it...
None of them are subtle and don't feel right.
I had a lot of doubts, but I thought that if I use it for a while and it doesn't work, I will cancel it, and it would be troublesome to re-install Office if it doesn't work, I decided to try Business Essentials, which is the cheapest option. I also excluded OneDrive for Business because it is an annual contract.

With Office365 for Business, you can have your own domain "xxxx.onmicrosoft.com" and set your organization (company) name. Since it is separated from the others by a domain, you can decide the user name as you like.
Once you have answered Moromoro's questions and finished setting up the system, the administration screen will be up and running.
Ahhh.... I did it.... It's the most tedious thing I don't want to do...
I just wanted to try OneDrive, but I was stingy and chose it based on price alone, so I had to be a one-man information system...
Full lineup of Office365.... You can even do one person Teams....
I don't want to be hijacked and charged a lot of money, so I decided to put in 2-step verification for the time being.
How about that? Can we set up various settings for each user?
I can't use the Google Authenticator iPhone app? Is there a dedicated Microsoft Authenticator?
..........What a hassle!
Moreover, the crucial OneDrive never finishes deploying....
I googled it and it takes 24 hours....
Akern. I failed... This was the story of .......
The difference between Office365 for individuals and Office365 for business
For reference, here is a note on the difference between personal and business use.
Office365
For Business
- For business use, separate domains for each company, and then leave the rest of the management to the administrator of that company.
- User creation and configuration can be done as desired by the administrator (fees are proportional to the number of users)
- User identification is done by username\@domain name. (The domain can be changed to something unique to the company)
targeted at individuals
- For individuals, it is like a huge domain managed by Microsoft, and users are so-called Microsoft accounts
- User identification is the email address you registered when you created your Microsoft account
Login
- All login entrances, regardless of domain, can be made from the Office365 site; same for Microsoft accounts.
- So, it is not possible to create a separate Microsoft account using the login email address of a user created for business
OneDrive
For Business
- OneDrive, also for business, is a dedicated OneDrive area created and managed for each domain, the so-called OneDrive for Business.
targeted at individuals
- The personal version is called OneDrive, which is normal and is managed by Microsoft.
- It could be called a giant OneDrive for Business, a Microsoft account domain.
Personal Web Edition of Office
- A web-based version of Office for individuals is what is called Office Online.
- When you log in with your Microsoft account, you can open Office-related files placed in OneDrive on the web. This is Office Online
- Even if you don't have Office365, OneDrive is assigned by default if you have a Microsoft account, so anyone can use it.
incidentally
It would be fitting to think of a Microsoft account as a huge domain operated by Microsoft for individual users.
Microsoft services often use these services.
For example, in Azure Active Directory B2C, the "C" refers to the Microsoft account and the "B" is the domain of each company in the Office365 business. B2B is a service that does not have a "C" and cannot handle Microsoft accounts, only company domains.
The Microsoft Graph API is similar, with v1.0 being a B2B service and v2.0 being a B2C service.
impressions
I thought I should not use Office365 for business for personal use.
So, if you want to increase the capacity of OneDrive for personal use, Office365 Solo would be the only choice.
I'm not good at managing and tuning, and I'm a lover of fully managed services, but I've done the exact opposite....
Well, now that I've registered for Office365 Business Essentials, I'm going to try it for a while and write about my impressions of OneDrive in the near future.
